Within the landscape of Tudor chronographs from the 1990s, the “Tiger” series stands out as one of the most iconic and sought-after evolutions of the Prince Date Chronograph line. Born from the collaboration with golf legend Tiger Woods, brand ambassador at the time, this version featuring a silver dial with black sub-registers – the famous reverse panda configuration – perfectly blends sporty elegance with technical appeal, capturing the essence of Tudor’s transition from its Rolex-linked heritage to a distinct and independent identity.
The reference 79280 features the signature 40 mm stainless steel case with engraved tachymeter bezel, screw-down pushers and crown, elements clearly reminiscent of its Rolex Daytona DNA yet reinterpreted with a more daring and contemporary spirit. On the wrist, it feels balanced and proportionate, with a dynamic visual presence enhanced by the contrast between the sun-brushed silver dial and its three black sub-registers, ensuring excellent legibility and unmistakable character.
Beating inside is the Tudor Calibre 7750 automatic movement (Valjoux base), renowned for its robustness, precision and chronograph reliability. It also integrates a date function at 3 o’clock, fully in line with Tudor’s design philosophy of the era: professional-grade instruments built to Rolex standards, yet with a personality of their own.

Case, Bracelet, Dial & Glass
The 40 mm stainless steel case is presented in excellent condition, displaying a uniform satin finish that enhances the sharp lines typical of the Tudor Prince Date Chronograph Ref. 79280. No polishing has been performed, confirming the full originality of its surfaces. The polished areas show only minimal superficial hairlines, invisible when worn. The stainless steel tachymeter bezel remains in equally outstanding condition, with little to no visible wear and a crisp, well-defined engraving.
The stainless steel “Jubilee” bracelet retains its original satin and polished finishing with no visible signs of wear. The clasp, code X12, features the classic Tudor shield and is likewise in excellent condition. Bracelet stretch is virtually absent, and its length comfortably fits wrists up to approximately 19.5 cm.
The silver “reverse panda” dial with sunburst finish beautifully catches the light, shifting tones depending on the angle. The black chronograph sub-registers are perfectly balanced within the composition, giving the dial both sophistication and strong visual presence.
The sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating is perfectly clear and free of scratches, ensuring a bright and unobstructed view of the dial under any lighting conditions.
